P42: Upline Jacket by Sewn

This pattern is from Sewn, which is a new division of Lorraine Torrence Designs. The Upline Jacket is a raglan sleeve jacket in three views: above the knee trench coat with stand away collar and button front closure; hip length with button closure, and high hip length zipper front closure. The princess lines are flattering to all figure types.

My sample uses Radiance Silk/cotton solid colors, some of which were enhanced with paintstiks, using my "Fragmented Script" rubbing technique. Click here for technique instructions. The jacket center front and back sections feature the rubbing technique. The same red fabric was used for the sleeves and side fronts/backs — which illustrates the "before" and "after" of the technique. The collar, cuffs, and belt are a copper color, and were also enhanced with paintstiks.

Although the pattern calls for 2-7/8 yards total yardage, I found that additional yardage is required when using a contrasting color. The jacket shown here required 2-1/2 yards of the red fabric, and 2/3 yards of the copper (assuming 43" wide fabric).
