Paintstik Inspirations - 3 hour workshop
DESCRIPTION: Learn a variety of techniques using Shiva® Artist's Paintstiks® that result in layers of color,
design, and texture on plain colored fabrics. Create a series of samples and discover the wonderful
luminescence that these "altered fabrics" can give to your projects.
CLASS SIZE: Maximum 24.
CLASSROOM REQUIREMENTS:
- Maximum two students per 6-foot table, with tables covered in plastic. Instructor requires 2 tables
for supplies, samples, etc.
COST: $375.00
STUDENT FEES: $25.00 Includes one set of mini-paintstiks, one stencil brush, one stencil, plus
use of additional paintstik colors, texture plates and stencils.
STUDENT SUPPLY LIST: A minimum of fourteen 12' prewashed fabric squares (can be cotton, silk, or
synthetic). At least 10 squares need to be dark color, four light — can be solid, hand-dyed or
subtle tone-on-tone. Masking or blue painter's tape; 3/4" or 1" wide; 4-6 paper towels, pencil, pen,
notepad. An apron or smock (or wear old clothes). Optional: One or two stamps with simple, bold designs
(to be used under the fabric to create a rubbing); other textured surfaces such as wire mesh, small
rubber sink mat, corrugated cardboard, etc. (Don’t go shopping; look around your home for possibilities).
